AAAggh - Panic stations

So, I was applying for jobs randomly so I could move closer to husband, (who's working down south).  It hasn't been very successful to date but now 2 interviews are on the horizon and I am all in a tizz.

Must prep, must prep, stop playing about on pc and avoiding!  :)

(Must get camera back soon so I can pretty this up with some piccies.)

Crazy thoughts

While driving down south this weekend, I had little to cheer me up.

Until I saw a little truck driving along, it was for a Scania truck recycling company.  So I thought to myself - Oh, that's good to know.
Now I know I like to think I am into recycling and good for the environment type stuff, albeit in a talk about it better than doing it kind of way, but seriously WHY do I need to know about Scania recycled parts?

Then, a bit further down the road, there were thousands of leaves blowing around, it didn't look or feel too windy but still, it was quite pretty.  Then I caught up with an open caged wagon that had obviously been collecting leaf waste - only for it all to blow back out along another road.  Small things to keep me amused on the long journeys!!

I always seem to be complaining

Last weekend, my nan died.  She had been poorly, was of a reasonable age and had been through various ops.  It's still a bummer.  The way I got the news was mildy amusing. My brother rang me, (note; my uncle has been very poorly too), conversation went something like:
BRO - are you sitting down?
ME - no, what's happened?
BRO - N (random, phone breaking up noise), has died, (Note - uncle's name also begins with N!)
ME - Who? Who has died?
BRO - phone cutting off
ME - Which bluming one?

I tried to call back, engaged (probably trying to ring me back), so I wait and have another similarly cut off call. Finally, establish it's my nan.  In my usual 'I'm ok' way, I go into ultra efficient mode and say ok, I'll find out what's going on, speak to you later.

Ring husband, (who works away), let him know what's happened. Just about to get stuck into something distracting like the housework, (way too early for a glass of vino!), mum rings. Bro has called her, (with the same cutting off of phone-ness) and explained that I might be upset so .. she rings me to see if I'm ok.

Eventually, spoke to uncles and got some more information, wouldn't really know much more till after the weekend.
Anyway, that was the lengthy background to my rant.

The eldest uncle has taken 3 days off to sort stuff at my nan's and has (apparently), gone back to work today and they have fired him. He was saying yesterday that he was 'allowed '2 days bereavement, but that's just pants in terms of sorting out funeral and 'stuff'.
I am sooo cross.
Other than that (and my brother incurring injury whilst playing hockey a couple of weeks back, leaving him unable to work, drive or do a lot), life is good.  Bonkers, but good.

Summer's gone.

So, throughout most of summer, I have been offline and / or miserable. What a combination.

Just been woken up, (about an hour ago), to the belting down rain.  Had to get up and check that those roof 'window' things are all shut in the caravan.  Fortunately, the only one open was the bathroom one.

Realised that none of the windows were open to let fat cat in so donned waterproofs and went out for a nosey, using the torch I had in my hand would have been useful as I stepped in a puddle -(right up to my middle?), in my trainers - now soaked.

No cat.  Back to the van, cuppa & 30 seconds later, meow (Sp???).  Tried to dry him off but all he wanted to do was sleep!!

OH now due to get up for work. He has managed to sleep through the rain and his alarm - HOW??
Off to make another cuppa.

Flat caps, no whippet

My friend is having a musical themed party tonight & as usual I am down to the wire on the costume front!     I thought I might go as Oliver but need to make, borrow, steal a flat cap! And still in the very early stages of putting together a waistcoat! If all fails I' ll resort to the back up plan - if I can think of one!

Busy weekend

I haven't been posting because my pc is still being detoxed (hopefully). This is a bit of a pain as I have been busy making little purses and want to show them off - not that they are great but I enjoy making them with my offcuts of fabric - saves me collecting them and having them sitting around for decades on end!!

But, I am more than a little excited.  This weekend OH is visiting me and it feels different to me going to visit him somehow.  We have plans for Saturday that could mean a change in our lives, or could amount to nothing whatsoever, it is quite exciting all the same.

Then on Sunday we are off on a foraging walk with our lovely friend Mina, she is a genius at all things foraging and the most enthusiastic 'teacher'.  It is great going on these walks with her because she is a little bonkers, very knowledgable and clearly loves showing people the wild food and it's uses.  I never tire of these walks (well, afterwards I am bluming knackered but that's all good).

For OH's pending visit, I am going to try and make a cake with the toms of rhubarb I have cut from the allotment, if that fails, I'll revert back to the usual crumble.  Wish me luck!!

Ordinary things

Well my bus route has changed supposedly for the better, I should now only need to get 1 bus to work but so far what a nightmare!
The first day it was late,  then all the schoolkids pushed on first, no prob.em they usually sit upstairs out of the way, but no, they stood right at the fron blocking the corridor!
Day 2 - half hour late but no kids, they'd got bored with waiting.
Day 3 - went for the earlier bus, still late but at least I was at work in plenty of time! Return journeys have also been late but today 2 turned up at once and my one happened to be the one that broke down. Fortunately, I was home in time for a very important 'fone call.

Day 4 - yippee, it turned up on time, got me to work and no problems.

Now, I have managed to pick up a cheap run around car but I was giving it a run out last week on the way to work to get used to it and that was far too stressful, all the traffic and driving numpties cutting me meant road rage a-plenty!!!

Choices, choices!!

Apparently, 'It's not easy being green'

Home Alone (again)

After what seemed like a journey to the (dark side of the) moon, I finally got back home yesterday.

Next time I decide to get all uppity and at the last minute decide to get the train away, remind me to check what the options are for coming back and whether there are any railworks resulting in bus replacements, extra changes and such like.
Fortunately, I only bought a few bits back with me.

This time, it seems much more difficult, perhaps because I have spent a good week with OH and I knew what I was going back to at work!

I guess I just need to get motivated again to be make more stuff, I have a couple of ideas brewing and really need to get started so that I don't run out of time, like I did at easter and chrsitmas before that.  (Note to self - it is very difficult to crochet in the back of a car with no lights down the unlit parts of the M5 - especially when you are still learning!! - yay a lesson learnt!)

I have missed actively sewing & knitting and was beginning to get withdrawals so I guess I can throw myself back into it again.

OH becomes a piglet

OH has started work at the piggy farm today, not quite sure whether it is a trial, a casual or semi-permanent job, but he was looking forward to it, even getting up super early to get there.

I was a bit confused when he walked back in only 10 minutes after leaving, but it was to bring the blooming cat back who had decided to follow him to work.  (Didn't want him getting lost, he has only been in Somerset for a few weeks and not really ventured much further than the campsite!)

Gorgeous sunshine again and I am sat typing whilst finishing lunch, must get back out to enjoy it while it lasts!!

Day trip to Taunton

This week, life is in Somerset. Whilst here, OH & I thought we could meet up with some people I chat with on internet.

Have had a lovely afternoon in a pub with 2 lovely bubbly children (& their mum & dad), there's something about meeting new people that seems to really tire me out.  A good day, pleasantly warm, sunny and full of chatter!  Hope to catch up with them all again soon!

Hooray for sunshine

The sun is shining!!  Ok, so it's a bit on the chilly side, but at least the rain has paused for a day.

Happy Easter

AAArrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hello All
I have had a pretty pants week - something that I have been unsure about chatting about being a new bloggy dude n'all.
In short, whether it's just me I don't know but work has been pants & OH has been away for the last 2 weeks and although I am due to catch up with him next week, the plans aren't going as well as they should.  This, ('plans' not working out), is one thing that I cannot 'deal' with very well.

Whilst I don't do planning, if I am going anywhere I have a sort of schedule in my mind (it might be the same to others, but to me a question of 'what time are you leaving / due to arrive' fills me with fear so that part is not planned, I usually have an anticipated day of arrival).  Anyway, if my schedule starts to go belly up I can get a bit of angst.  No real reason why 'cos not planning means no ETA, but I have an idea in my mind that's ok.  My method of planning / non-planning allows a LOT of time for getting lost, other adventures!
As was the case last year when I had a different car, without cigarette lighter to charge Mr satnav.  Despite travelling the same route to my mum's countless times and every time arguing with Mr satnav, without him, I wasn't concentrating on the route and ended up passing Bristol instead of turning off.  I realised before OH who was just gibbering away and singing along (Badly - as was I), to the funky tunes we had on the player, probably a bit of Kid Rock.  So I say, 'this doesn't look familiar, I think we missed our turning'.  He's like -'No, it just looks different 'cos you usually drive overnight'.
Ok so sometimes, particularly when you're stuck together in the car for 5hours, you just have to go with that, but, I was right.  Anyway, it was a lovely day so instead of turning round and going the right way to mumsys, I decided that a trip to Weston Super Mare might be on the cards, (well, we were most of the way there!)
We had a great time, got stuck in the mud - Who Knew? that it wasn't sand.  Fortunately rescued my merrell sandal things - they have never been the same since!!

But rambling off, I have cheered up a bit cos had a chat with OH and a friend who made me realise what will be will be, and Pirates of the Caribbean is on telly - who wouldn't be cheered up by that!!

Attaching another piccy too! A wallet prototype that after sending off I realised I forgot to put the note wallet in!

testing from mobile

Wow, I think I can even blog from my phone. That will give me something to do when the bus to / from work is stuck in traffic.

Can I do it?

So, all the cool kids seem to be blogging these days, along with plenty of grown ups (real or pretend), the question is - can I be a blogger too?

In principle I guess I can, but getting it to work how I want it too - we'll just have to wait & see!!

Anyhow, I like to keep myself busy trying to knit, sew & crochet. I am really a novice at all three having just found a bit of mojo in the last couple of years. I did some sewing when I was younger but recently have been trying to improve and use up fabric that I have had lying around for ages just waiting...

As for the knitting & crochet, it started as a whim just over a year ago and I have to admit I am addicted.

As I say, I'm not an expert at any of the hobbies but they all keep me out of mischief (mostly) and allow me to try and get the creativity flowing - it has been dormant for far too long.

Now to see if I can post pictures!! I have loads of fabric remnants so am making purses and wallets. The foto is my dalmation purse!
